This mysterious, smart soft-bodied, eight-limbed cephalopod was the inspiration for Octohoodie.
One Sunday, my children and I snuggled into our large corduroy “Vetsak” far from the sea and the beach life we so love, to watch, "My Octopus Teacher”. I realised that this ocean sensation had a few attributes which were missing from my life:
- Eight active arms: When I am off to surf with my daughter, I carry so much… her beach bag, Octohoodie robe, her wetsuit and booties, and the dog on a lead. I could really do with more than two arms!
- Limb replacement: the octopus can regenerate a functioning arm if it is lost. So if someone took an arm and a leg from me, at least I would be able to grow it back.
- More than enough grey matter: nine brains - one central and eight mini-brains. Perhaps a few more brains would have helped me get through mathematics at school! One was definitely not enough, and I have the results to prove it!
- Blue blood: Octopuses are the royalty of the seas. I would quite like the door opened for me sometimes, instead of always having to do everything myself.
