What is an Octohoodie?

An Octohoodie is a poncho-style microfibre hoodie towel — pull it over your head straight from the water and you’re instantly warm, dry and covered. No fussing with towels, no sand going everywhere, no cold wind hitting wet skin. One move and you’re sorted. We make them for babies, kids, teens and adults.

What is the difference between the Octohoodie, the AquaRobe and the OctoSnug?

The Octohoodie is our classic swim poncho — lightweight, quick-drying microfibre, designed to go on straight after water. The AquaRobe is a longer, more generous style with a robe-style fit and is great for post-swim warmth that goes a little further. The OctoSnug is our warm-up hoodie made from coral fleece with a Sherpa-lined hood — think cosy couch or poolside warmth rather than a towelling cover-up. All three solve the same problem; it just depends on where you’re headed after your swim.

What are Octohoodies made from?

All Octohoodies are made from 100% performance microfibre — a fabric that is ultra-soft, breathable, wind-resistant and quick-drying. Each fibre is around 100 times finer than a human hair, which is what makes it so absorbent. Microfibre absorbs up to five times more water than cotton and can hold about seven times its own weight in water — and it dries impressively fast. The hood lining is luxuriously soft for added comfort.

Are Octohoodies waterproof?

No, they’re not waterproof — they’re designed to absorb water and dry quickly after swimming. They’ll also keep wind off your wet skin while you warm up, which makes a big difference at the beach or poolside.

Do you make custom or personalised Octohoodies?

Yes, we do offer customisation on selected styles. Get in touch at info@octohoodie.com before placing your order and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

Sizing

How do I choose the right size?

We strongly recommend checking the sizing chart on the product page before ordering. Each Octohoodie is made to order in the size and colour you select at checkout, so choosing carefully before you place your order makes a real difference. If you’re between sizes or unsure, contact us first — we’d rather help you get it right.

What are the dimensions for each size?

Kids:

XXS – (ages 2-4 ) 62cm w x 72cm l

XS – (ages 4-6 ) 66cm w x 76cm l

S – (ages 6-10) 68cm w x 80cm l

S+ – (ages 11-13) 70cm w x 90cm l

Adults:

XS – 68cm w x 110cm l

S – 70cm w x 115cm l

M - 72cm w x 120cm l

L – 74cm w x 125cm l

XL – 76cm w x 130cm l

Length is measured from shoulder to hem. Width is measured side to side at the shoulder.

Can I request a custom length?

Yes — length adjustments can be made on request before your order goes into production. Email us at info@octohoodie.com once you’ve placed your order and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Do you have something for babies?

Yes! We have a baby range available in a few colours. Head to the Baby section on the website to see what’s in stock.

Ordering & Payment

How do I place an order?

Shop directly on our website at octohoodie.com — choose your style, size and colour, and check out online. Payment must be received and cleared before we start production on your order.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major payment methods available at checkout on our Shopify store, including credit and debit cards.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Because each Octohoodie is made to order, please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make a change. Once production has started, we may not be able to make amendments. Email info@octohoodie.com or call 083 293 4133.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes — we deliver across South Africa via Aramex courier to your door.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is a flat rate of R99 per parcel nationwide. One parcel can hold either one adult Octohoodie or two kids Octohoodies.

How long will my order take?

Please allow up to 10–14 working days from payment confirmation. Each order is made to order, so we don’t hold stock sitting on a shelf. In many cases it’ll arrive sooner, but during busy periods it may take a little longer. We’ll keep you updated.

Do you ship to outlying or remote areas?

Yes, but delivery to outlying areas may take longer and, in some cases, an additional courier charge may apply. If that’s the case, we’ll contact you before dispatching.

Do you ship internationally?

We primarily deliver within South Africa, but international delivery can be arranged — get in touch to discuss at info@octohoodie.com.

Will I receive tracking information?

Yes — once your parcel has been collected by Aramex, tracking details will be sent through. Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see it.

Care & Washing

How do I wash my Octohoodie?

Machine wash on a cool setting using a mild detergent. No bleach. No fabric softener — softener clogs the microfibre and reduces absorbency over time. Avoid washing with cotton items as the microfibre will pick up the lint. If you need to tumble dry, use the cool cycle only. Best of all, microfibre dries so quickly you’ll rarely need to.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your returns policy?

Because each Octohoodie is made to order in the size and colour you select, we ask that you choose carefully before placing your order. We do not offer refunds for incorrect size or colour choices made at checkout. However, if you believe you’ve made an error, contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we’ll consider an exchange on a case-by-case basis. Items must be unused, unworn, unwashed and in original condition with all tags attached.

What if my item is faulty or incorrect?

If your Octohoodie arrives faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number, a description of the problem and clear photos. Email info@octohoodie.com or call 083 293 4133 and we’ll sort it out quickly.

How do I start a return or exchange?

Please contact us first — nothing is accepted back without prior approval. Once we’ve spoken and approved the return, we’ll guide you through the next steps.
