YOUTH DAY

Celebrating Kids Who'd Rather Swim Than Scroll

This Youth Day, we’re celebrating the kids who swap screens for swimming pools, who find joy and freedom in the outdoors, and who remind us why movement matters.

Kids like Luphiwe, a spirited 7-year-old from Masiphumelele.

When Luphiwe’s mom reached out to Jaxx Swim School, she simply wanted to make sure her son was water-safe so he could enrol in Grade 1. At the same time, we were looking to sponsor a young swimmer who could benefit from extra support — and we were honoured to step in. We sponsored a month of swim lessons for Luphiwe and, of course, made sure he had his very own Octohoodie to keep him warm after every splash.

But it wasn’t just about swimming. It was about building confidence, unlocking new opportunities, and watching a young spirit shine with each small victory in the water. Thanks to the incredible coaches at Jaxx Swim School, Luphiwe made it into his new school, stronger, more confident, and ready to take on new challenges.

Stories like his are why we do what we do. Because swimming isn’t just about playtime — it’s about shaping resilient, courageous kids who grow up knowing they can handle water. And we know we are a water loving country.

This month, we’ve donated another month of swimming lessons to help more kids like Luphiwe become water safe. My dad used to say the ocean is made up of droplets — and I guess the same applies to pools. While it may not have been the biggest donation in the world, it made a big difference to him.

Do you know a young swimming explorer who inspires you? Tag their story and help us celebrate the next generation of outdoor adventurers. Let’s keep the spirit of Youth Day alive — one splash, one climb, and one big dream at a time.

Stay warm (and stylish),
