The Wet-Towel Shuffle
Share
Every family that swims has done it.
That moment right after you get out. Cold, wet, standing on a towel that's already wet too, hopping from foot to foot while someone tries to work a t-shirt over damp shoulders.
Nobody plans this moment. It just happens, every time, at every beach and every pool and every tidal pool from Camps Bay to Kalk Bay.
We used to do it too.

Getting the kids out of the sea and into something warm became a family sport at our house. Who could wrap up and get moving fastest. It was funny, until it wasn't. Cold kids don't stay funny for long.
That's the whole reason Octohoodie exists. Not a gap in the market. A cold, shivering kid on a Saturday morning, and a mother thinking there has to be a faster way than this.
Why the Wet-Towel Shuffle Happens
A normal towel wasn't built for this. It's built for a bathroom, where you're dry already and just drying off skin. At the beach, you're wet all over, the wind is doing its thing, and a flat towel needs both hands and a fight to actually cover you while you try to change underneath it.
So you get the shuffle. The hopping. The towel that won't stay wrapped. The t-shirt that goes on wrong side out because everyone's hands are freezing.
What Actually Fixes It
One move. That's the test we build every Octohoodie against. Pull it over your head, and you're covered, warm and dry in the time it used to take just to get the towel unfolded.
The cowl neck seals in the warmth around your neck instead of leaving a gap for the wind to find. The microfibre does the actual work, pulling water off your skin fast, faster than cotton ever could, so you're not sitting in dampness under the hoodie either.
It sounds like a small thing until you've stood on a slipway in a Cape Town southeaster trying to change a toddler under a beach towel. Then it's the only thing that matters.
The End of the Shuffle
We didn't set out to build a swim brand. We set out to end one very specific, very familiar bad ten minutes. Everything else, the colours, the fit, the fact that it works for nippers and water polo players and Sunday tidal pool swimmers alike, came after that.
If you know the wet-towel shuffle, you already know why we made this.
